8 Things About Melody

by Melody on June 7, 2007

I’ve been tagged so, it’s time to reveal some more of my secrets! Here’s eight things you might like to know about me in no particular order:

I believe in The Golden Rule and I always try to live by it.
I hate doing housework! I used to have a cleaning lady when the kids were little, she worked 4 hours per week and it really helped me keep on top of it all. I rather do something creative; paint a picture, build a web site anything other than clean house!
      Decorative Painting
I like doing crafts especially decorative painting on wood, paper, ceramic, and canvas. I’ve dabbled in oils and water colors but I prefer acrylics. Above is a not so great photo of a kitten peeking out of the pocket of blue jeans, painted on a wood plaque which I did a few years ago and have hanging on my wall.

I used to be terrible at starting conversations – in person and online! I could never think of what to say but I’ve gotten much better. I learned that once I get talking I’m okay and I can become a real chatter box if it’s a subject I’m interested in or passionate about. Wanna talk about Watkins anyone?
Everyone says, I’m pretty good in the kitchen! I enjoy cooking, baking, home canning and feeding my family and friends tasty, healthy, good home made food. I like eating it too! ;) The dishes are another story but I think they fall under housework, don’t they? :D
Since I was a little girl I’ve always wanted to be a Mom, in fact I used to dream of having a dozen – yes, 12 children! So, not surprising my life revolves around my four kids. 4 seemed like a more realistic number! I was lucky that I could be a stay at home Mom and enjoy every minute of being a Mother. Sometimes, I tried to be the perfect, super Mom and do it all. I probably made mistakes, but have no regrets as I know I did the best I could!
My mate is my opposite so to say the least it can make life challenging at times and it’s something I don’t want to talk about. However, I do want to celebrate what a good woman I am to put up with him!
I’m a country girl at heart, I enjoy nature and animals but I’ve given up gardening. I love planting things and seeing them grow so now I plant a few flowers in containers which means I don’t need to contend with the weeds. We’ve had a steady procession of pets in our family throughout the years; cats, dogs, horses, lizzards, fish, frogs, birds, rabbits, hamsters, mice, guinee pigs, some I’ve personally become more attached to than others but they have all been interesting!

Melody,
You’re a great painter!! And how old *are* your kids? The way you refer to them, they sound grown and out of the house. :D

I’m planning on writing a post at NWAHMs soon about hiring a housekeeper, interesting that you included that in your 8 things. :)

Thanks for sharing!!

Thank’s Barb, I really do miss painting and look forward to setting up a craft room some day, real soon! Gotta tear myself away from the computer first! :D

Okay, if you must know… my kids are… 27, 23, 21 and 18 so they are pretty much grown up and only the baby still lives at home. They are all still “my babies” and I’m thankful that I have a wonderful relationship with each of them.
