The truth is, there are going to be days when working on your direct sales business can be very challenging. Maybe you created a monster sized “to do” list or you have a tight deadline for an upcoming show, and it seems that a new obstacle pops up at every time you turn around. Perhaps your business isn’t moving as fast as you had hoped it would and you’re ready to call it quits. Whatever it is, that has you discouraged and ready to give up, don’t let it win! Instead, grab your motivational toolbox and get pumped up. What’s that? You don’t have one!

Putting together your own personal motivational toolbox is your secret weapon against discouragement, stress and anxiety. Your toolbox can be a digital arsenal stored on your computer or it can be an actual box filled with tangible items. You’ll want to include training materials, audios, books, e-mails, pictures or anything else that will give you a boost, inspire and motivate you.

I’ve always found that audio trainings are great to listen to for motivation. You may have some CDs from your direct sales company or a motivational speaker, dig them out and listen while you work. Digital recordings are also quite easy to find on the Internet as more and more people are adding audio technology on their websites. One benefit of these is that you can simply download the audio to your MP3 player and go for a walk, which will get your heart pumping and help lower your stress.

Save all the e-mails you receive from your customers that offer a compliment, a testimonial or thank you because they appreciate what a terrific job you did for them. Then, if you are having a bad day, take a moment to read through those e-mails. If you receive e-mails from your upline or your sponsor, (I sure hope you do!) save the ones that include good tips, motivate you, or recognized you for an accomplishment. These can really make you feel like what you are doing is worth while, are a wonderful confidence booster and you will be ready to tackle your next project.

Some people find that looking at an inspiring picture or photo can also help fire up their motivation. If you find a picture that inspires you, place it where you can see it while you are working or save it to your computer’s desktop. Your picture should mean something special to you or remind you of your goals.

If you have children, I’ll bet they are the main reason you decided to work at home so let them inspire you. Cards, pictures or artwork that your children have created for you with love can also be a great motivator. While you may not always feel confident, in their eyes, you are the best in the whole wide world.

There are lots of fantastic books and even magazines are that are inspiring to add to your tool kit. You can also find many places on the Internet to find inspiring articles and motivational quotes. Reading these can lift you up and help you find the inner strength you need to accomplish your goals. Everyone has different struggles and different situations, but you might come across the story of someone in a similar situation, or for that matter, someone in a worse situation! Reading about others who have overcome their problems can help you think of solutions to your own problems.

If you need a boost don’t forget to stay in touch with your up line or sponsor, as they can be your biggest cheerleader!
