How To Start Using Skype

]]> To start using Skype you’ll first need to set up an account so I’ll show you how to do that. You may have heard of Skype, it’s a software that enables people from all around the world to communicate with each other for free via their computer. Skype to Skype calls are free however that isn’t all you can use it for. I discovered Skype enables you to make inexpensive long distance phone calls, (less than 3 cents/min for me) send text messages, video conference, forward phone calls and much more.

Lots of people use Skype to talk to family members and friends who live far away but did you know that it can also be a viable business tool? Whether you run your own direct sales business or want to use it in your personal life, here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Visit www.skype.com and download the software onto your computer. The software is available for both Macs and PCs.

Step 2. A dialog window will open up on your computer screen, click to save the file SkypeSetup.exe. on your computer.

Step 3. Once the download is complete, open the Skype setup application. The setup wizard will launch and guide you step by step through your choices and settings for your computer. (I love things like this!)

Step 4. Your next step is to start up the Skype software.

Step 5. Then you will need to create your account. You’ll be asked for your name, you’ll choose your Skype name, and password plus you’ll enter your email address and location.

Step 6. Now, you’re all ready to start making Skype calls! If you are bit stumped like I was, take a look at their getting started guide which will walk you through making a test call and your first phone call. Tip: you can also import your contacts from Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook and more.

Step 7. This is optional but if you are using Skype for your business you’ll probably want to purchase credits to call customers, prospects or your downline who don’t have skype or upgrade your account to Pro which gives you free credits and other options.



My status

Skype can be the one stop communication solution for busy direct sellers who are tired of spending too much money on phone bills and text messages. I’m only just starting to learn about everything I can do with Skype besides make phone calls, conference calls, text messages from my computer, and inexpensive calls to land lines and cell phones.
